New cafe Poro Chise opens in Wakkanai overlooking Mount Rishiri
A new cafe named ‘Poro Chise’ has opened in the Nishihama district of Wakkanai, Hokkaido. Owned and operated by Kazue Yoshida, 65, and her family, the establishment opened on September 17 in a seaside location offering views of Mount Rishiri and Rebun Island.
The name ‘Poro Chise’ is derived from the Ainu language, meaning ‘a place where people gather.’ The cafe offers various meals, including breakfast options like grilled fish sets and lunch items such as ginger pork sets. During the summer, the cafe operates from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and again from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Winter hours are adjusted based on weather conditions.
