New child neurodevelopment unit inaugurated in Santiago
Vice President Raquel Peña inaugurated the Child Neurodevelopment Unit at the Dr. Arturo Grullón Regional Children's Hospital in Santiago. The facility is designed to provide evaluations, therapies, and specialized follow-up for children across the 14 provinces of the Cibao region.
Linked to the Jesús con los Niños Volunteer group, the unit aims to expand access to services for minors with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), developmental delays, and other conditions requiring specialized care. The unit features four consultation rooms and a therapy room, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Alicia E. Rivas Villalona, director of the hospital, noted that the opening addresses the need to strengthen the center's capacity to serve the region. The service includes individualized follow-up and guidance for families to address specific developmental needs.
