New children's books released featuring the Tatras and zoo adventures
New children's books have been released focusing on nature and animal adventures. In Slovakia, Ivona Ďuričová and Adrián Macho have launched ‘Maľovaný výlet do Tatier’ (A Painted Trip to the Tatras). Designed for children aged four and up, the book uses poetry and illustrations to introduce the Tatra Mountains, featuring landmarks like Štrbské pleso and Belianska Cave, as well as local wildlife such as chamois and eagles. The book utilizes a ‘painted reading’ method where small images replace certain words to encourage interactive engagement.
In the Czech Republic, Vlasta Hurtíková has published ‘Pejsek a kočička jedou do zoo’ (The Dog and the Cat Go to the Zoo). Aimed at children aged five and up, the 80-page book follows two animal protagonists on a trip to a zoo. Through a humorous lens, the story introduces various animals, including hippos, monkeys, and snowy owls, teaching lessons about friendship and perspective.
