New children's literature releases explore identity and collective organization

Two new children's books are being released to address complex social and psychological themes through accessible narratives.

In “Cara de Nada,” author and historian Ademir Luiz, illustrated by Tiago Duarte, explores themes of self-esteem, identity, and belonging. Using the metaphor of the number zero, the story follows a boy navigating insecurities and external pressures. The work aims to treat children's literature with the same sophistication as adult literature, challenging stereotypes regarding masculinity and encouraging emotional expression.

Additionally, Eliandro Rocha’s book “Nenhum rei,” illustrated by Ana Thomas Terra, uses a playful narrative to discuss popular autonomy and power dynamics. The story depicts a city where residents realize they can organize collectively when a king fails to meet their needs. The book seeks to translate dense topics like politics and social participation into a format suitable for young readers.
