New Clark City secures $1 billion Taiwanese tech investment
New Clark City has secured a $1 billion investment from an undisclosed Taiwanese technology company to establish a manufacturing facility in Tarlac. The project will initially occupy 30 hectares within the Filinvest Innovation Park, with an additional 60 hectares reserved for future expansion. This deal marks one of the first approved under the amended Investors’ Lease Act, which extends foreign land lease limits to 99 years.
To support the facility, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) plans to hire mechanical and industrial engineers starting in October. These recruits will undergo training in Taiwan before returning to the Philippines to oversee equipment installation and production line setup early next year.
The Philippine government is also positioning New Clark City as a major advanced manufacturing hub through the Pax Silica framework. Authorities are actively courting global technology leaders, including Apple, Nvidia, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Qualcomm, and Broadcom, to integrate the region into a wider tech corridor involving chip design, critical minerals, and AI data centers.
