New classroom blocks commissioned in Ghana’s Nkoranza South
New educational infrastructure has been commissioned in the Nkoranza South Constituency of Ghana to address severe overcrowding and unsafe learning conditions.
At Dimango M/A Basic School, a new three-unit classroom block was handed over by Emmanuel Agyekum, the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South and Minister for Labour. The school had previously faced significant safety risks after torrential rains damaged existing buildings, leaving sections collapsed. The facility also faces a critical staffing shortage, with only two teachers currently responsible for eight classes, often forcing multiple grade levels to be combined in a single room.
In a separate development within the same constituency, Asunkwaa M/A Primary School received a six-unit classroom block funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). This project aims to alleviate extreme congestion, where classrooms previously held as many as 90 pupils at once. Headmaster Atta Augustine noted that the new facility will provide a more conducive environment for teaching and individual student attention.
