New commanders appointed for Aruba and Curaçao military units
New commanders have been officially installed for the Aruban (ARUMIL) and Curaçaoan (CURMIL) military units during command transfer ceremonies. Major Glenn Werleman has been appointed as the commander of ARUMIL, while Major Ryan Cabenda has taken command of CURMIL.
Both officers bring extensive regional experience to their new roles. Major Werleman has been associated with ARUMIL since 1997, having served in various capacities within the Coast Guard and the Marine Corps. Major Cabenda began his career with CURMIL in 2004 and also possesses significant experience with the Coast Guard.
These appointments are part of an ongoing effort to increase operational standards and professionalize both light infantry units. While the personnel are civil servants of Aruba and Curaçao, they are detached to the Commander of the Dutch Forces in the Caribbean (CZMCARIB) to support regional security and local incidents.
