New community playgrounds open in Hantum and Bellingwolde

New playgrounds have officially opened in the Dutch villages of Hantum and Bellingwolde following extensive community efforts and fundraising.

In Hantum, the newly renovated playground, named ‘De Boartersterp’, was inaugurated with a festive event including pancakes for local children. The project was realized through the cooperation of volunteers, sponsors, and the local municipality to provide a modern meeting and play space for all ages.

In Bellingwolde, the playground on Kastanjelaan opened after years of planning and fundraising by the Plan Oost association. The project raised approximately 200,000 euros through various methods, including crowdfunding, community games, and local charity drives. The design specifically incorporated requests from local children for features such as a soccer cage, swings, and a playhouse, while also prioritizing accessibility for children in wheelchairs.
