New Concord, Ohio and nearby towns celebrate America 250 with fireworks and events

Communities across the United States marked the 250th anniversary of independence with a series of local festivities. In New Concord, Ohio, village officials organized a day‑long celebration that included free swimming, museum tours, a community picnic, live music by the Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds and a fireworks display synchronized with the "1812 Overture." The event was funded by a community fundraiser that raised more than $15,000.

In the Tri‑Town area of Massachusetts, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester held parallel events despite an earlier extreme‑heat advisory. Marion staged an Independence Day parade and its own fireworks show, while Mattapoisett hosted a community picnic, a concert, a road race with over 1,300 athletes and historic bus tours. Rochester organized a town picnic, a bell‑ringing ceremony and a Patriotic Children’s Parade. The celebrations featured flags, line dancing, and numerous fireworks heard across the region.
