New Concrete Bridge Opens Between Marechal Cândido Rondon and Mercedes in Brazil

A newly built concrete bridge linking the municipalities of Marechal Cândido Rondon and Mercedes was opened to traffic on Wednesday, 8 May. The opening ceremony was attended by the mayors of both towns, Adriano Backes and Laerton Weber, along with other local officials. The bridge connects the communities of Novo Rio do Sul and Boa Vista, providing a safer and more durable crossing for residents, farmers, and students.

The project was financed jointly by the two municipalities: Marechal Cândido Rondon contributed roughly R$ 90,000 for steel, concrete, tubes and labor, while Mercedes allocated about R$ 160,000 for concrete beams. Officials highlighted the cooperation as a model for municipal investment that directly benefits the local population.
