New confectionery shops open in Tsukuba and Nishinomiya
Several new dessert specialty shops have opened or are scheduled to open in Japan.
In Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, Kurozumi Shoten is planning to open a donut specialty shop in the Richmond 2nd Avenue building in Amakubo 2-chome. The shop will specialize in baked donuts with a texture similar to chiffon cake and is expected to operate during evening hours. While the shop already has a location in Mito, this will be its first in Tsukuba, with an opening projected for sometime in 2026.
In Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, a new pastry shop named Mon petit choux opened on October 23 in the New Futaba San Mall shopping arcade under the Hankyu railway tracks. The shop specializes in Western-style sweets, with a primary focus on cream puffs featuring a thin, crunchy cookie coating.
