New Democracy begins preparations for 2027 Greek elections

The New Democracy party has begun preliminary preparations for the 2027 Greek elections. A key initial test involves a large-scale geographical operation across Western and Central Macedonia, as well as Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, coinciding with preparations for the Thessaloniki International Fair.

Party officials, ministers, and MPs will conduct tours to present the government's record and assess local party organization and influence. Following these tours, the party expects to announce at least 100 candidacies. Currently, over 250 individuals—including local government figures, business leaders, academics, and party officials—are on selection lists for the party's ballots.

A core leadership team is forming to support Kyriakos Mitsotakis, including Kostis Hatzidakis, Akis Skertsos, Thanasis Kontogeorgis, and Thanos Petralias. Hatzidakis is leading the strategic planning for the upcoming period, while Skertsos and Kontogeorgis focus on linking government achievements to future commitments.
