New Democracy MPs seek special debt regulation for Greek farmers

Thirteen members of the New Democracy party have submitted a joint letter to the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, requesting a special regulation for farmers and agricultural cooperatives. The proposal seeks to address non-performing loans and debts through the existing out-of-court settlement mechanism.

The lawmakers suggest that the regulation should include targeted adjustments that account for the specificities of agricultural activities, particularly in light of the recent impacts of the climate crisis on the primary sector. The group has requested a working meeting with the Minister to discuss these proposed interventions.
