New Democracy reshapes National List as betting markets favor Mitsotakis for next Greek PM

Greece's ruling New Democracy party is overhauling its National List (Επικρατείας) ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election. The party is moving away from the 2023 slate that included Eirini Agapidaki, Theodoros Skylakakis, Christos Stylianidis, Ioanna Lytrovi, George Stamatis and Maria‑Nefeli Chatziewannidou. New potential candidates are being discussed, such as Agapidaki for the West Athens constituency, Stamatis for Corinth, Skylakakis for Ilia, and Chatziewannidou for Thessaloniki, while figures like Afroditi Nestora and Nikitas Kaklamanis are also in the conversation.

Betting markets are already reflecting the political speculation. On Novibet, New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis is the clear favorite to become the next prime minister with odds of 1.22, while former prime minister Alexis Tsipras is priced at 4. A surprise entry is former prime minister Antonis Samaras, listed with odds of 41 despite no announced party launch. Other names such as Nikos Androulakis, Maria Karystianou, Dimitris Koutsoumbas and Sokratis Famellos appear with longer odds, indicating lower perceived chances.
