New Democracy spokesperson addresses global energy crisis
Alexandra Sdoukou, spokesperson for the New Democracy party, addressed the ongoing global energy crisis in recent radio interviews. She characterized the situation as a severe international disruption affecting the entire supply chain, noting that while the Greek government cannot control international oil and gas prices or the conflicts driving them, it is committed to mitigating the impact on citizens.
Sdoukou stated that the government is monitoring developments constantly, with evaluations occurring every 15 days to determine the need for new interventions to support households and businesses. She emphasized the importance of balancing social support with fiscal responsibility, aiming to assist the public without violating European economic rules or jeopardizing the country’s financial stability.
Furthermore, she highlighted previous government measures, such as minimum wage increases and reductions in property and social security taxes, as part of a broader effort to maintain economic progress following a decade of financial crisis.
