New Democracy spokesperson Alexandra Sdoukou addresses rule of law

Alexandra Sdoukou, spokesperson for the New Democracy party, emphasized the necessity of ensuring that no individual is above the law, regardless of their economic or social status. Speaking in an interview, she noted that the perception of the law being applied strictly to the weak while remaining flexible for the powerful must change to prevent a crisis of trust in state institutions.

Sdoukou stated that addressing corruption and illegality requires strong institutions, effective auditing authorities, and an independent judiciary. She highlighted that while the political will and institutional mechanisms exist to target both minor and major offenses, changing the long-standing societal culture of tolerance toward illegality is a process that requires time.

Regarding specific recent cases, she mentioned that the Ministry of Labour is closely monitoring the Pizza Fan situation to ensure worker protections and wage security. She also addressed recent scandals in the basketball sector, asserting that the government will not allow the creation of popular courts through slander.
