New diagnostic services target used electric vehicle battery transparency
New diagnostic services are being introduced to increase transparency in the used electric vehicle (EV) market by assessing battery health.
AVILOO has launched the FLASH test, which provides an independent diagnosis of a battery’s State of Health (SoH) using mathematical models and a large diagnostic database. The service includes a battery guarantee at no extra cost when paired with a certificate. The test aims to provide more accurate data than standard manufacturer estimates, offering insights such as real achievable range and cell-level defect analysis.
Simultaneously, TÜV SÜD has introduced battery condition tests for electric and hybrid vehicles across more than 100 service centers. By connecting a diagnostic device to the vehicle’s OBD interface, the service determines the remaining capacity of the drive battery. This initiative is designed to provide security for both buyers and sellers in the growing secondary market for battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
