New directors appointed at hospitals in Guatemala and Argentina
New leadership has been appointed at two regional hospitals facing significant administrative and legal challenges.
In Jalapa, Guatemala, the Hospital Nacional Nicolasa Cruz is under new management. The incoming director faces critical tasks including improving patient care quality, ensuring medical supply availability, enhancing hospital security, and addressing internal labor relations. The facility has faced numerous human rights complaints, and officials noted a need to review the hospital's budget and administrative structure, as 80 percent of the staff is currently administrative.
In Caucete, Argentina, Patricia Díaz has assumed the directorship of the Hospital César Aguilar. Her appointment follows the resignation of Diana Martínez, who faced legal scrutiny regarding alleged cover-ups and failure to fulfill official duties. The previous administration was impacted by investigations into illegal fees and a judicial case involving a surgeon, following the death of a patient. Díaz, formerly of the Báez Laspiur Health Center, has committed to using her experience to serve the community.
