New disability support center opens in Chirpan

A new day center providing residential care and specialized services for people with disabilities has opened in Chirpan, Bulgaria. The facility, which includes apartments where residents can live with their families, was inaugurated by Minister of Labour and Social Policy Natalia Efremova.

The project was funded through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, with a total value of approximately 2.43 million euros. The center is housed in a renovated former maternity and pediatric building, featuring accessible environments and independent apartments with a capacity of up to five residents each.

In addition to residential housing, the center will offer various support services, including therapy, rehabilitation, vocational training, counseling, and day care. This initiative aligns with a broader national strategy to phase out old-style specialized institutions in favor of community-based social services by 2035.
