New documentary suggests 1967 Bigfoot film may have been staged

A new documentary titled ‘Capturing Bigfoot’, directed by Marq Evans and scheduled for 2026, investigates the possibility that the famous 1967 Bigfoot footage was staged.

The original film, captured by Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin in northern California, is credited with fueling much of the modern Bigfoot folklore and pop culture. However, descendants of the filmmakers have reportedly discovered a 40-second reel of film that appears to contain rehearsal footage, suggesting the original sighting may not have been authentic.
