New elderly residential unit opens in Krmelj, Slovenia

A new residential unit for the elderly has officially opened in Krmelj, within the Municipality of Sevnica. The facility provides 16 places and was developed as a small, home-like community designed to offer quality care, safety, and privacy while maintaining connections to the local environment.

The project represents an investment of approximately three million euros. The relevant ministry contributed around two million euros, with the remaining funds provided by the Impoljca Home for the Elderly and Caregivers. The Municipality of Sevnica supported the project by providing the land free of charge to the Republic of Slovenia and assisting with the application process and local infrastructure, including parking and drainage.

Officials noted that the unit’s small scale allows for an individualized approach to care, tailored to the specific needs and desires of residents. The facility is also intended to host community activities and long-term care programs.
