New England concert venue trends and 2027 tour announcements

The landscape of live music venues in New England is shifting as major touring acts increasingly favor larger, newer facilities. In Maine, the Augusta Civic Center, which served as a premier concert destination for decades hosting artists such as Aerosmith and Willie Nelson, now primarily hosts basketball games, trade shows, and gala events. This transition is attributed largely to the development of larger venues in Bangor and Portland.

Looking ahead to the 2027 season, several major New England venues—including Thompson's Point in Portland, the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, the Bank NH Pavilion in Gilford, and the Xfinity Center in Mansfield—are already beginning to announce tour dates. While ticket prices for high-demand tours are expected to remain high, industry observers are watching for potential legislative changes regarding the ticket resale market that could impact affordability.
