New England Patriots acquire AJ Brown from Philadelphia Eagles

The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver AJ Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. The trade reunites Brown with head coach Mike Vrabel, who previously coached him for three seasons during their time with the Tennessee Titans.

Following the acquisition, head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the impact on the existing roster, specifically regarding Kayshon Boutte. Vrabel stated that without injuries, Boutte “probably would have been inactive,” noting his lack of involvement in special teams. The move shifts the Patriots' wide receiver hierarchy, positioning Brown and Mack Hollins as the primary X receivers, while Romeo Doubs and Kyle Williams handle Z receiver duties, and DeMario Douglas and Efton Chism occupy the slot roles.
