Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens hold joint training camp practices
The Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens held their first of two scheduled joint practices at the TCO Performance Center in Eagan. The sessions serve as a critical test for both teams as they aim to return to the playoffs following underperforming 2025 seasons.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed that Kyler Murray has been named the starting quarterback, with J.J. McCarthy serving as the backup. During the first day of practice, Murray experienced mixed results, completing roughly 50% of his passes and struggling with intermediate accuracy, though he successfully connected with Justin Jefferson for a touchdown during situational drills. McCarthy also showed promise in late-game scenarios, hitting Myles Price for a touchdown.
Defensively, both teams saw success. The Vikings' defense, led by coordinator Brian Flores, utilized aggressive blitzing to pressure the Ravens' offense. On the offensive side, rookie running back Demond Claiborne showed impressive speed but faced ball security issues. The joint practices are intended to provide high-intensity competition without the injury risks associated with preseason games.
