New England Patriots place guard Greg Van Roten on injured reserve
The New England Patriots have placed veteran offensive guard Greg Van Roten on injured reserve following a thigh injury sustained during a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Van Roten, 36, will be sidelined for at least four games.
This move further depletes a struggling Patriots offensive line that recently lost starting right guard Mike Onwenu to a broken ankle. With both primary right guards unavailable, the team is forced to rely on depth options such as Walter Rouse, Ben Brown, or potentially rookie Caleb Lomu to protect quarterback Drake Maye.
The injury crisis comes as the Patriots hold a 1-2 record. The team faces a critical Week 4 divisional matchup against the 3-0 Buffalo Bills, where the Bills' defense may benefit from the Patriots' depleted front five.
