New England Patriots re-sign safety Elliott Davison to practice squad
The New England Patriots have re-signed safety Elliott Davison to their practice squad, just one day after releasing him. To facilitate this move, the team released veteran tight end Shane Zylstra from the 17-man practice squad.
Davison, a 24-year-old undrafted safety from UTSA, previously spent time on the New Orleans Saints' practice squad. He initially joined the Patriots' practice squad in early September before being cut on Monday. The team's decision to re-acquire him comes ahead of their home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Shane Zylstra, a 29-year-old veteran with 35 career games including six starts, was released to make room for Davison. Zylstra has previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Buffalo Bills.
