New England Patriots release punter Bryce Baringer

The New England Patriots are reportedly releasing punter Bryce Baringer. Baringer, 27, has served as the team’s primary punter since being selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Baringer was placed on injured reserve following an undisclosed injury sustained during a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. While he is reportedly fully healthy, the decision to release him comes as the team manages limited roster designations for players returning from injured reserve.

Mitch Wishnowsky has filled the punting role in Baringer’s absence, averaging 47.1 yards per punt. The move allows Baringer to pursue opportunities with other teams while freeing up a roster spot for the Patriots.
