New England Patriots sign Christian Gonzalez to record extension

The New England Patriots have made significant moves to strengthen their defense, securing a landmark extension for cornerback Christian Gonzalez and signing veteran defensive tackle DaQuan Jones.

Gonzalez has signed a four-year, $135 million extension, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. The deal includes $102 million in guarantees and a $33 million signing bonus. The cornerback, a 2023 first-round pick, earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2024 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2025.

Additionally, the Patriots have signed 34-year-old DaQuan Jones to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million. Jones, a veteran who previously played under Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel with the Tennessee Titans, joins the team to bolster the defensive line following struggles against the run in recent play.
