New England Patriots sign Hunter Henry to 2-year extension

The New England Patriots have signed veteran tight end Hunter Henry to a two-year contract extension that ties him to the team through the 2028 season. The deal is worth a base value of $16 million, with total potential value reaching up to $20 million and including $14.5 million in guarantees.

Henry has served as a primary target for quarterback Drake Maye, recording 768 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season. The extension provides stability to the Patriots' offense, particularly as the team looks to develop younger depth players like rookie Eli Raridon and undrafted free agent Tanner Arkin.

While the Henry deal secures a key offensive component, the franchise is also reportedly working toward a major extension for star cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Owner Robert Kraft indicated that an offer has been made to Gonzalez that would make him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.
