New fantasy gaming titles So Below and Witchbrook announced
The gaming industry is seeing new creative approaches in both tabletop and digital formats. The Spanish publisher Ni! has released So Below, a tabletop role-playing game that moves away from traditional fantasy tropes. Instead of legendary heroes, players inhabit ordinary citizens who encounter supernatural incidents and surreal adventures. The game utilizes an intuitive system based on colored tokens to facilitate narrative flow without complex mathematical calculations.
In the video game sector, Chucklefish, the developers of Stardew Valley, is working on Witchbrook, a magic-themed life simulator. Set in the coastal town of Mossport, the game follows a young witch attending Witchbrook College. Players will balance academic life, such as attending classes and preparing potions, with social activities like exploring the town and building relationships. The title is expected to release in 2026 and will feature cooperative play for up to four people.
