New football stadium developments in Oradea and Veliki Komjati

In Oradea, the local council has approved a plan to begin construction on a new football stadium using municipal funds. Mayor Florin Birta stated that work is expected to commence in the spring of 2027. This move follows government regulations that allow municipalities to initiate projects with a 25 percent local contribution, enabling them to seek the remaining 75 percent in state funding starting in 2028.

Meanwhile, in Veliki Komjati, a new modern football stadium has been inaugurated. The facility, which will serve as the home for FC Carpathian, features a 1,000-seat covered stand and professional lighting. Beyond sports, the complex is designed to host free physical and psychological rehabilitation programs for Ukrainian soldiers and veterans. The opening ceremony included a charity match attended by football legend Andriy Shevchenko, with proceeds donated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
