New Hampshire fisherman breaks state bluefin tuna record

A fisherman has set a new state record in New Hampshire after catching a 506-kilogram bluefin tuna. Brandon McGirl and Captain Jamie Savage were aboard the vessel ‘Out of Line’ during a night fishing trip when they hooked the massive fish.

The catch surpassed the previous state record of 436 kilograms, set in 2013, by 70 kilograms. The struggle to reel in the fish lasted for a significant period, involving a chase of approximately 1.6 kilometers. Due to its high quality, the tuna is expected to be sold in the Japanese market. The fish's tail will remain at the local port as a symbol of the record-breaking achievement.
