New handmade donut shops open in Takaishi and Ota

Two handmade donut establishments are making headlines in Japan. In Takaishi, O-chan donut stand is scheduled to open its new location in the Masters El Ayazono building on October 26, 2026. The shop, originating from Yonago, Tottori, will offer over 30 varieties of craft donuts, with most items priced in the 200 yen range.

In Ota, Gunma Prefecture, the donut shop Nijisha continues its operations. Managed by Noriko Hosono, the shop specializes in freshly fried stick donuts and soft “happiness donuts,” with prices starting at 300 yen. Nijisha also serves specialty coffee sourced from local experts and operates via a kitchen car to reach various locations. The shop is planning a 5th-anniversary event on November 1, featuring food stalls, woodworking goods, and musical performances.
