New Haven Finance Committee to discuss $27 million litigation settlement fund
The New Haven Finance Committee has scheduled a public hearing for September 14, 2026, to address several municipal financial matters. Key agenda items include an ordinance amendment to appropriate $27,000,000 to the Litigation Self-Insurance Fund. This funding is intended to settle the cases of Horn v. City of New Haven, et al and Jackson v. City of New Haven, et al.
Additionally, the committee will consider an amendment to the outside legal services agreement with the law firm Howd & Ludorf, LLC, which would increase the total agreement amount by $235,000 for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The committee is also reviewing a budget transfer of $37,451 to increase appropriations for various labor relations positions, including the Director of Labor Relations and Senior Labor Relations Counsel.
