New horror films arrive on Netflix and MUBI

The body horror film ‘The Substance’, directed by Coralie Fargeat, has arrived on Netflix in Latin America and Peru. Starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, the film explores themes of youth, beauty, and the social pressures regarding physical appearance through a blend of science fiction and psychological horror.

In the film, Moore plays Elisabeth Sparkle, a television star who uses a mysterious substance to create a younger, perfect version of herself, played by Qualley. The movie previously received recognition at the Oscars for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Additionally, the film ‘Adolescence, Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’, directed by Jane Schoenbrun, is available on MUBI. The film serves as a deconstruction of the slasher genre, examining creative decay and the commercialization of horror tropes through the lens of a young director attempting to revive a classic franchise.
