New horror video games PAIN-TO-WIN and Halloween: The Game released
Recent developments in the horror gaming genre include the release of PAIN-TO-WIN by studio pain2.win and the launch of Halloween: The Game on PS5 by IllFonic.
PAIN-TO-WIN is a top-down horror shooter set in a dystopian asylum. Players act as organ extractors tasked with hunting violent individuals and collecting biological material. The game utilizes a gritty, hand-drawn art style reminiscent of PSX-era titles, featuring a dark atmosphere and violent combat mechanics.
IllFonic’s Halloween: The Game is an asymmetric horror title where one player controls Michael Myers while four others play as Haddonfield residents. Developed with the involvement of John Carpenter and featuring motion capture by Nick Castle, the game focuses on stealth and presence. It introduces mechanics such as first-person pursuit and specialized movement abilities to mirror the character's behavior from the original 1978 film.
