New housing redevelopment plans submitted in Manchester and Salford

New residential development proposals have been submitted for sites in Manchester and Salford.

In Manchester, Plymouth Grove Residential has submitted plans to redevelop the Octagon House site on Hathersage Road. The project, designed by Hodder + Partners, includes the redevelopment of the 100,000 sq ft building and the construction of three new blocks ranging from four to 11 storeys. The proposal aims to provide 682 units, including 455 student homes and various accommodations for key workers and healthcare professionals. The NHS Renal Services centre currently located in the building is expected to remain in situ.

In Salford, a planning application has been filed for 63 affordable homes in the Weaste and Seedley areas on Edward Avenue. The development, designed by Buttress Architects, consists of two four-storey flat blocks and two blocks of townhouses. The project includes a mix of one-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom townhouses, with provisions for parking and bicycle storage. The design intends to reference the nearby historic Buile Hill Park through its material palette.
