New Huanggang Port to open October 12
The New Huanggang Port is scheduled to officially open on October 12 at 6:30 AM. This new facility is positioned to become the most critical 24-hour checkpoint between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, with authorities aiming to reduce overall clearance times from 30 minutes to approximately 5 minutes.
To facilitate the transition, the old Huanggang Port will cease operations at 6:30 AM, with the final shuttle bus to San Tin departing between 6:15 AM and 6:20 AM. Passengers unable to catch the final shuttle can utilize various public transport options, including KMB, New World First Bus, and Citybus routes, to reach the new port.
Authorities have introduced a “Cooperative Inspection e-Channel” mobile application to streamline the process, which has already seen over 160,000 registrations. Hong Kong Customs noted that the new clearance model for departing vehicles, involving pre-check booths, is expected to reduce processing time from 10 minutes to just 2 minutes. Police and transport departments will implement crowd management and traffic control measures at key locations, including San Tin Public Transport Interchange and the Lok Ma Chau Control Point, to ensure a seamless transition.
