New IBD center opens in Žilina as Czech hospital announces power outage

The Gastroenterology Center at the Faculty Hospital with Polyclinic (FNsP) Žilina has opened a new Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) center. Located in the polyclinic building, the facility is designed to provide biological treatment for patients suffering from idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

The center was established to meet the growing demand for specialized spaces capable of administering biological therapies, which require regular monitoring of the patient's health status. Hospital officials noted that the modern facility aims to expand specialized care options for patients requiring long-term professional management.

In a separate development, the Orlické ústecké nemocnice in the Czech Republic has announced a planned electricity outage this Saturday from 7:00 to 19:00 to repair high-voltage cables. During this period, services including CT scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), angiography, and the stroke center will be unavailable. While the maternity ward will remain open, emergency services will operate at a significantly limited capacity, and trauma patients are advised to seek care at alternative facilities in Pardubice, Svitavy, or Litomyšl.
