There has been no independent verification regarding the video's origin or whether the speaker was acting officially on behalf of the organization.

Formed in 2012 through the merger of several dissident republican groups, the New IRA rejects the 1998 Good Friday Agreement and seeks the unification of Ireland. British authorities classify the group as a proscribed terrorist organization. The group remains active, having previously claimed responsibility for a car bomb near a police station in Dunmurry.
