New Italian literary works explore historical and personal journeys

Two new literary works have been released, focusing on historical reflection and personal growth.

Alessandro Di Nuzzo’s novel, ‘Il maestro del duce’, is a historical fiction written in a diary format. Set in September 1937, it follows Guido Centofanti, a young teacher assigned to Morra Terzana in the Cilento mountains. Despite arriving with the intent to serve the Fascist regime through its educational mandates, the teacher encounters a reality of extreme poverty and lack of resources. The story tracks his journey to connect with students who are often working in fields rather than attending school, ultimately exploring themes of humanity and freedom.

In ‘Consapevolezze’, Leonardo Dattoli provides an autobiographical account of 712 days of life. The narrative explores the author’s personal struggles, including therapy, work experiences in tourism and entertainment, and family relationships. Centered around his connection to Rome, the book examines vulnerability, the fear of being judged, and the process of accepting one's own fragilities as a means of personal growth.
