Yota Tsuji and Ryohei Oiwa advance to G1 Climax semifinals

The A Block of the New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 36 tournament has concluded, with Yota Tsuji and Ryohei Oiwa advancing to the semifinals. Both wrestlers finished the round-robin stage with 12 points and a 6-3 record.

In a highly competitive block, Tsuji and Oiwa secured their spots following a three-way tie at the top involving Konosuke Takeshita, who also finished with 12 points. Tsuji and Oiwa progressed due to head-to-head advantages. Oiwa clinched his position by defeating Takeshita in the main event at Act City Hamamatsu, while Tsuji secured his spot after a victory over Jake Lee.

Other notable results from the final A Block matches included Great-O-Khan defeating Boltin Oleg via countout, which eliminated Oleg from playoff contention. Additionally, SANADA defeated Shingo Takagi and Hirooki Goto defeated Yuto-Ice in matches that had no impact on the final standings. The tournament will proceed with the B Block finals to determine the remaining two semifinalists, followed by the semifinals on August 15 and the tournament final on August 16.
