New Japan Pro-Wrestling partners with Street Fighter film for upcoming event
New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) has announced a promotional partnership with the upcoming Street Fighter film for its King of Pro Wrestling 2026 event, scheduled for October 12 at Sumo Hall in Tokyo. The collaboration includes the film’s logo on the ring mat and corner posts. The partnership highlights the inclusion of professional wrestlers in the video game adaptation, such as NJPW’s Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.
The October 12 event features several championship matches. Yota Tsuji will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Ryohei Oiwa, while Gabe Kidd defends the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Shota Umino. Additionally, Aaron Wolf will defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against Kosei Fujita, and the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions—HENARE, Great-O-Khan, and Will Ospreay—will face Yuto-Ice, OSKAR, and Jeff Cobb.
In recent preliminary action at the Road To King Of Pro-Wrestling event in Korakuen Hall, the Knockout Brothers (OSKAR and Yuto-Ice) defeated Great-O-Khan and HENARE to win the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
