New Japanese medical guides to assist cancer patients with treatment and lifestyle choices

Two new Japanese publications are set for release in late September 2026, aimed at providing guidance for individuals facing cancer diagnoses.

Mirai Publishing will release ‘How to Face Breast Cancer: Choosing the Right Treatment and Medical Institution’ on September 25. Authored by Dr. Eiichi Shiba, a specialist performing approximately 800 surgeries annually, the book focuses on helping patients navigate treatment options such as breast conservation versus mastectomy, and provides practical advice on selecting medical facilities, including the differences between hospitals and clinics.

Shufu no Tomo Sha will release ‘The Book That Contains Everything You Want to Know When You Get Cancer’ on September 26. Supervised by Dr. Ken Yamaguchi, this guide utilizes data from the Shizuoka Cancer Center to address physical, mental, and financial concerns. It covers the diagnostic process, major therapies like surgery and radiation, genomic medicine, and practical lifestyle management, including nutrition and returning to work.
