New Jersey anticipates vibrant fall foliage season
New Jersey is expected to experience a vibrant fall foliage season, with conditions predicted to be better than the previous year. Experts suggest that sunny days, mild temperatures, and cool nights will facilitate the development of bright reds, oranges, and yellows.
Jason Grabosky, an ecology professor at Rutgers University, noted that while the state has faced fluctuating temperatures, current conditions are promising for a fantastic color season provided the weather remains stable. He cautioned that while some rain is beneficial, heavy rainfall could prematurely knock leaves from trees.
Peak foliage is projected to begin around October 20 in North Jersey, gradually moving south to reach South Jersey by early November. The quality of the colors depends on three key elements: daylength, heat, and soil conditions.
