New Jersey Devils acquire Amadeus Lombardi, trade for Declan Chisholm and draft Alexander Command

The New Jersey Devils added forward Amadeus Lombardi by sending a fourth‑round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft to the Detroit Red Wings. Lombardi, a 23‑year‑old who posted 42 points in 47 AHL games last season, is expected to provide depth at centre. On the same day the club acquired defenseman Declan Chisholm from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2027 fourth‑round pick. Chisholm, a 26‑year‑old Canadian who recorded seven points in 26 regular‑season games with Washington, adds left‑handed defensive depth.

In the 2026 NHL Entry Draft the Devils used the 12th overall pick to select Alexander Command, a 17‑year‑old centre from Örebro HK U20 in Sweden. Command posted 17 goals and 44 points in 30 regular‑season games and added five goals and 13 points in the playoffs. Scouts describe him as a two‑way player with a strong work ethic and competitive edge, potentially complementing captain Nico Hischier in the Devils’ centre group.
