New Jersey Devils adopt three-man goaltending rotation

The New Jersey Devils are implementing a new goaltending strategy for the upcoming season, moving toward a three-man rotation. Following the departure of Jacob Markstrom, who was traded to the Florida Panthers for Jesper Boqvist and Evan Rodrigues, the team has re-signed Nico Daws to a two-year deal and added David Riiti to supplement starts.

Devils General Manager Sunny Mehta has expressed confidence in the team's defensive unit, which remains largely unchanged with the exception of Simon Nemec's departure. Mehta anticipates a bounce-back performance from the blue line, led by Dougie Hamilton and Luke Hughes. Additionally, the club has announced its 2026-27 theme night and giveaway schedule, which includes a K-Pop Night on October 22.
