New Jersey family killed in Montgomery Township murder-suicide

A murder-suicide has occurred in Montgomery Township, New Jersey, involving the Grodnick family. David Grodnick, 61, allegedly shot and killed his wife, Lora, 62, and their daughter, Sloane, 24, before taking his own life.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office ruled the deaths of Lora and Sloane as homicides, while David’s death was classified as a suicide. Authorities entered the residence on October 2 following a welfare check request after officials were unable to reach the residents.

A neighbor, Mian Helaly, reported noticing unusual changes in the family’s behavior in the months leading up to the incident. He noted that the family, who previously took great pride in their meticulously maintained landscaping and new trees, had stopped tending to their lawn and trimming trees, which he felt suggested that ‘something was not right’.
