New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill hands out free tickets at FIFA 2026 Ecuador‑Germany match

Governor Mikie Sherrill attended the third round of the FIFA 2026 World Cup at MetLife Stadium on June 25, where Ecuador faced Germany. She praised the large Ecuadorian presence and celebrated the team's victory.

Sherrill distributed 770 complimentary tickets to New Jersey residents, including 500 for youth soccer players from underserved areas, families of National Guard members stationed in the state, first‑responders from Bergen County, healthcare workers from Hackensack Meridian Health, pediatric patients with serious illnesses, and 70 tickets for supporters of local small businesses. She will also serve as a host for the tournament’s final on July 19 at the New York/New Jersey stadium.
