New Jersey man charged after cocaine seizure in Rosendale

A 39-year-old New Jersey man, Akeen D. Barnes, has been charged with felony drug offenses following a cocaine seizure in Rosendale, New York.

New York State Police reported that during a September 1 traffic stop on the New York State Thruway, troopers observed a 2025 Honda Civic violating multiple traffic laws. A subsequent search of the vehicle's trunk uncovered approximately two kilograms of cocaine.

Barnes faces charges including first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Barnes was arraigned at the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part and is being held without bail at the Ulster County Jail.
